Website of the day
Who can have a blog about healthy vegetables without giving big props to Will Allen and his organization Growing power. we visited growing power in Chicago during the summer and hopefully we will get out to Milwaukee soon. Urban agriculture is the next thing to solve many problems from food deserts to crime. We all deserve to eat healthy and local. Vermicompost or Worm Composting
Vermicomposting is a composting method using worms usually red wigglers to break down your kichen food scraps. I use a worm bin called the Worm Factory that uses a self sorting upward migration. The bin is filled with coco fiber, food scraps and paper fiber. The worms consume the scraps and leave behind castings. The bin also has a nozzle to collect the compost tea. This produces micro organism rich soil that is perfect for your garden. It also saves landfill space. I will post video of my setup so you can see how wonderful vermicomposting is.
